People who know a lot about rings don't need to run round in circles
At the end of the 19th century the invention of the RASCHIG Ring was a major breakthrough in process engineering. Fritz RASCHIG succeeded in separating carbolic acid into finer fractions, using RASCHIG Rings which he inserted in a distillation column. The efficiency in the purification process with RASCHIG Rings was far superior to all other processes known at the time, because of the large interface between the dropping liquid and the rising vapour.

In the following decades, the RASCHIG Ring was developed further into high-performance packing elements. The RASCHIG Super-Ring is a current example. In comparison to other conventional rings the RASCHIG Super-Ring has a more than 33% greater load capacity, an almost 67% lower pressure drop and an over 12% increased separation efficiency. The result is a cut in energy and investment costs. RASCHIG Super-Pak is another example of innovative developments performed by RASCHIG.
Since several years RASCHIG offers also standard- and high capacity trays which is why a complete product portfolio for mass transfer columns is available.
Today, distillation columns are used for many different applications. One reason is the fact that RASCHIG is able to offer a large variety of materials. Depending on their field of application, mass transfer products are subjected to different temperatures, pressures and chemicals. The various requirements can only be met by outstanding knowledge of the material properties for the different packing.
RASCHIG has become the leading supplier of such equipment. Whether planning, modernization or construction of these plants is concerned, our answer is customer-oriented and based on process engineering.
In order to be able to provide the optimum results, we have developed our own computer program, called "WINSORP". Taking everything into account, the RASCHIG Ring has made a major contribution to today's level of process engineering.
