Tradition meets innovation

In 1891 Fritz Raschig, an enthusiastic chemist, decided to establish his own business. He was granted a license to build a chemical factory by the city of Ludwigshafen. Apart from the main business of tar distillation he carried out intensive research to find a method of producing highly purified tar components such as anthracene, carbolic acid and benzene. His efforts were eventually rewarded by the development of the revolutionary "Raschig Ring" - a milestone in process engineering.

It became apparent even then that RASCHIG was -and remains- the obvious choice: whether solutions to specific problems are required or raw materials need processing, RASCHIG is a competent partner. This specialization has continued to be one of RASCHIG's strengths- enabling innovative developments to point the way forward.

In the mid-90s, the family business was taken over by the California-based entrepreneur, Philip E. Kamins, who integrated the company into a network of highly specialized, internationally operating companies. This vital decision contributed essentially to safeguarding RASCHIG's future in an environment that is characterized by increasingly tough competition. At the same time, this step promoted the implementation of a new company structure. Its objectives, apart from the continuous development of the company's core activities and its product lines are: further globalization, improved customer-orientation and an approach geared to changing market conditions. The core competences are speciality chemicals, duroplastic molding materials, road construction products and high-performance filling materials.
